55.278km with 497m climb in 2:22:19. Saturday ride. Graeme the new guy from last week James and Malcolm only. Headed out and up Hinton hill James had a bad knee after banging it some weeks back so headed home.
Just before Burton on the nice lane Graeme hit a pothole badelly and came off. I was in front so did not see exactly what happened I had shouted holes but not pointed as the surface was not good for one hand on the bars but the hole was not that big. Unfortunately he did not just get up but lay there groaning for about a minute before sitting up with some help. About 20 seconds later he passed out and we are busy getting sensibly positioned lying down again with head supported. Guy in the car following called ambulance at this point. Was breathing ok and after a few minutes came back around but groggy. Hurting everywhere. Knees and elbows a bit raw as you would expect big crack in helmet so good job it was on. Ambulance turned up about 10 minutes police 5 minutes afterwards.
Painfull left ribs and side reported and concern about head hit so helicopter turned up 10 mins latter. Eventually he was cut out of his clothes and helmet and maneuvered onto a stretcher. Headed off in ambulance to Frenchay. About an hour had gone by by the time we left the bike with just minor scruff marks at the local pub and headed straight home.
Been back and collected bike now in my garage. Will see how he is latter on.
